He paid attention to it because we had a song with Nina Sky buzzing at that time. Its all in the grind, just keep grinding and things will fall into place. No, I just call it like I see it. The type of pop/uptempo beat they made in the video wasn’t popularized in the US until 2006 with Danja/Timbo and SexyBack. Until Mysto & Pizzi actually come out with a signature style that’s very distinctive, they’re no better than knock off Scott Storches or Rodney Jerkins’ (the kings of generic bites). Word to the wise.

If I were to actually hear this beat with an artist on the radio without seeing this video, I’d automatically assume it was Danja. Automatically. I’m not saying the beat is bad. It is actually really good, but the idea that they seem to think they’re being original is BS. It’s okay to imitate others. There’s a huge market for artists who can’t afford $100K the real thing.

You’re right there is a journey. But the successful ones who become household names versus album fillers redefine the genre. From everything I’ve heard from them (which has been over a year) has been a little better than lackluster…more of the same stuff that is currently on radios…even their remixes. Nothing revolutionary. The basically only thing that seems to define Mysto and Pizzi is that they are good at marketing with the whole online community which makes it entertaining I guess.

You learn to formulate sentences by listening and mimicking others, but after you start master the language you are able to deviate more and more and eventually find yourself and your style. No I just got two good beatmakers to agree that the beat they made was a generic beat, even though it was made live. A generic version of a style popularized by Nate Hills.

I definitely know Jerkins has been around longer, but it’s a fact that for the past 5 years, since he can’t get radio play, he’s been forced to copy other people’s style. Being around longer doesn’t mean you are automatically original. He went from that slow R&B when that was popular to the New Jack Swing stuff, then started biting Tim and Neptunes. But he couldn’t ever copy it 100%, he just half-assed it. And it’s to the point that you can’t tell that it’s Darkchild unless he tags the song.

Im debating on which one to get, Miko because its smaller and portable or the Neko which has more room to work with. Which Would u prefer?

The M3 seems very geared towards piano aounds and other things, where as the MiKo/NeKo (especially the Timbaland editions) have sounds geared towards that kinda sound (ie Urban Legend sounds)… am I right to assume this or will the M3 offer the same kind of thing? its worth it. Its an investment. I spent a total of a little over $3,000 for Dj equipment. I got all of my pieces one by one and had a legit set up after about a year. I made all of my money back and then some. If you perfect your craft (beat making) you will be able to sell a track for a $1,000 easily.
