You’re right – they’re just using midi controllers to input the drums, bass, pads and sequences that happen throughout the song, then quantize that together, mix, eq and input the vocals, chop and sample that with the mix and then add some filters and effects to different tracks, listen to it a bunch and tweak that into a final mix…..but like you said, they’re not making any music :-P
